bbPress 0.9 forum software has just been made ready for the public and I highly recommend it.
Many subtle bug fixes and many new features including easier WordPress integration:

If you are planning to integrate with WordPress, you’ll need the new WordPress 2.5 to match the new secure cookie method (or the bbPress plugin to force the old cookie method).
I just did my first installation of WP / bbPress on the same system and must say that I was absolutely amazed at how easy the combined process was. I’m familiar with the WP theme development process and was happy that it only took a few basic customizations to get the standard bbPress template (kakumei) to match my custom WP theme header / footer / background.
Hi I am trying to contact you regarding the feature you posted sometime ago about user choosing their own passwords. Did you get any movement out of your request?
I am interested in helping with this feature as I need it badly.
Encouragements and apologize for this post…

Hi,
I can’t find a contact email for you anywhere, so feel free to delete this comment, but I’m wondering if you can release the plugin “User-Track for bbPress & WordPress” that you have installed on bbshowcase.org - I can’t get the Simple Online list to work with my install for some reason, and it’s quite limited anyway.
Thanks,
